Empowering Rural Youth
Through Tactile Art

Role

Volunteer Art Instructor

Project Description

In the summer of 2023, I participated in a rural education initiative in Shangri-La, immersing myself in local cultural customs before conducting a teaching fellowship at Wujing Township Primary School. I developed curricula across both core academic subjects (Language Arts, STEM, English) and creative disciplines (Fine Arts, PE, hands-on workshops), bridging educational gaps through interactive mentorship. This brief yet profound journey fostered mutual growth, serving as a powerful testament to the transformative nature of knowledge sharing and cultural exchange.

Project Description

Dedicated to supporting visually impaired individuals and autism assistance programs, this project involved volunteering for the annual graduation and placement ceremony of certified guide dogs. Working alongside an internationally accredited organization, I helped document, design, and promote the vital bond between assistance dogs and their handlers. The initiative aimed to dismantle public misconceptions, advocate for broader urban accessibility, and cast a warm, supportive light on these silent guides.

Role

Community Art Workshop Organizer & Curator

Project Description

This targeted art community project brought vibrant visual storytelling to a rural primary school in Suzhou. Recognizing the therapeutic power of illustration, I curated a themed coloring and narrative workshop centered around empathy, healthcare, and daily warm memories. By introducing structured comic lines and bright marker palettes, the children were encouraged to reclaim personal narratives of hope and community warmth through bold colors, proving that visual language can heal and connect young minds.
