Tim Bergling, known professionally as Avicii, was a Swedish DJ, remixer, and record producer. At age 16, he began posting his remixes on electronic music forums, which led to his first record deal. He rose to prominence in 2011 with his single "Levels" and his debut studio album. Many of Avicci's songs topped the music markets in Europe and the United States. In 2016, Avicci retired from touring after several years of stress and poor mental health. In 2018, he died by suicide while on holiday in Muscat, Oman. After achieving widespread commercial success, Avicci started a charity dedicated to alleviating global hunger as he wanted "to give something back." His music inspired a generation, myself included. It's for this reason that I wanted to give something of myself back to Avicci in the way of an expressive portrait. Using mark making techniques including, hatching, cross-hatching and stippling, I composed Avicci with marks as a visual metaphor for the mark he made and the legacy he left behind.
